Devonport High School for Boys has appointed Plymouth based Bright Solicitors as the School’s official legal advisors, marking the start of a new Commercial Partnership scheme which will see the Outstanding Academy School look to forge a series of new relationships with city businesses.
“A number of key development plans currently in progress combined with our relatively new Academy status means that there is a very real need for the School to be working with trusted commercial partners”, explained Kieran Earley, Headteacher at DHSB.

“Bright’s close proximity, independent reports of excellent customer service and their own ambitious plans to expand and develop within the local area reflect very well the ethos of the School.  That a majority of the partners are also former pupils will serve as an extremely positive example to current students of the possibilities that exist within the local business community”.

Andy Price, Chief Executive of Bright and an old boy of the school, said

“This is an ideal partnership for us and we are proud to work with such an excellent School.  Not only will we be exclusively providing legal advice and services but we very much look forward to working with the students, particularly those considering a career in the law, to help in preparing them for life after education.”

2011 has been a good year for both establishments.  February saw the Paradise Road school receive an “outstanding rating” from Ofsted while at the same time Bright was relocating to new city centre headquarters; in March DHSB received the green light on their Academy Status application and in June Bright’s rapid growth continued with expansion into Cornwall working with the University of Plymouth at the Pool Innovation Centre, Camborne.

“We are growing but we are a Plymouth firm and want, where possible, to recruit locally”, explained Andy Price. “We see recruitment of intelligent and articulate employees as one of the many potential benefits of this deal.”
